Who Gonna Check Me Boo?

Now on to another topic why do people in Williams-burg, Brooklyn think its OK not to smile?

This past Sunday I found myself working a jewelry booth in the lovely Artists and Fleas. For all you who don't know, this is a flea market in the heart of Williams-burg "cool section," where you can find over priced 80's clothes, art prints and 3$ cups of coffee. Most of the vendors run around ignoring the costumers and trying on each others merchandise, its just amazing to watch. After finishing the day at my booth "Alyxia Leaf," which by far takes the cake in the whole flea market, the jewelry is fierce and made with real leaves plated in gold or silver ( I have several pairs) check them out http://qftrading.com/.

My boo and I decided to grab a bite to eat around Williams-burg. Now PAUSE for a second because we knew better than this but for some reason forgot how we always leave Bedford cursing the gods on how stupid this area has become. Remember (dare I say) about ten years ago when Williams-burg was just a free for all and really bohemian with all the visual artists, musicians, and freaks running around all drunk and creative. Ahhha the good old days. Now its full of sad faces who think its cool to down play everything and wear polka dots with stripes and not shave. I don't know maybe its me, maybe I'm getting old and jaded, or maybe Williams-burg is just for twenty something year olds.

All I know is I'm not above putting my foot up someones' butt for being nasty, I am from Miami after all. Nasty was exactly how this restaurant (which will remain anonymous) behaved as the manager asked our waiter (who was terrible by the way) if we paid our bill, on the way out. Can you believe! WOW! lets not forget myself and everyone I associate with are so grown and sexy, the days of not paying food bills have been left long ago in  Miami at Denny's. In the words of Atlanta Housewives "Who gonna check me boo?"

Its Show Business!

Two weeks and counting till my show at Harlem Stage Gate House and all the cast members are very excited! I start to get very antsy around this time  knowing that soon I will be multitasking jobs, life, being artsy fartsy, and accommodating Mommy dearest on her visit to NYC to support the show.

I live for the storm of performing and all that comes with it, even the low feeling that sweeps over you after all the performances are done and you no longer see the dancers and crew on a regular basics. Dance is so fantastically fleeting (much like a lot of things in life) to be reminded on stage to live in the present is such a gift.
